Can everyone who has my rescue code see my data? Is this secure?

Yes, anyone who knows your rescue code or can scan your QR code will have access to your data. This is important because you may not be able to give access to your first responder in an emergency. However, it is extremely unlikely that anyone will be able to guess your rescue code. A rescue code consists of any combination of 10 letters and numbers. So there are 3610, about 3.6 trillion, different ways to create a rescue code. Your rescue code is one of them. Guessing this is significantly less likely than winning 6 numbers with super numbers in the lottery, where there are "only" 15 million possibilities. In addition, we have integrated mechanisms that make wild guessing of the rescue codes considerably more difficult.

However, these safety measures do not work if you pass your stickers on to third parties or display them publicly. In order to prevent your data from falling into the wrong hands, you should make sure that you only attach your stickers to personal items that you do not share with others. Also, make sure that you attach your stickers in a manner not visible to the public and, if necessary, cover them when you are photographed or filmed.

We recommend that you affix the QR Code stickers to your identity card, social security card and driving licence. A key fob can also be a useful option if it is not shared.
